Cybersecurity Threats in Jamaica: Understanding the Risks
Jamaica’s growing digital landscape offers tremendous opportunities, from e-commerce to government services and digital banking. However, with increased reliance on technology comes the rising threat of cyberattacks. These threats— including phishing, ransomware, and data breaches— can compromise the privacy, security, and financial wellbeing of individuals, businesses, and institutions.
As cybercriminals become more sophisticated, it’s important for every Jamaican to understand the risks and take steps to protect themselves and their community. Cyber threats do not discriminate—they can impact anyone, from small businesses to large government entities.
Use Strong Passwords
Passwords are crucial for protecting online accounts and private data. Create strong, one-of-a-kind passwords that are at least eight characters long, incorporate a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols, refrain from using personal information, and use the same password for all your accounts to maintain security.
